TEIN*CC and BdREN signed the contract for the BeLISAC project proposed by BdREN at the 5th call for proposals at the Asi@Connect project https://belisac.bdren.net.bd/news/
TEIN*CC has entered into an Agreement with the European Commission to act as managing Coordinator of a research and education networking project in the Asia Pacific region (known as Asi@Connect) for a period of 60 months from September 2016. BdREN, the National Research and Education Network of Bangladesh intended to establish a platform in collaboration mode with Research and Education networks that will use TEIN network resources and generate wide societal benefits through e-learning and knowledge sharing through digital conference facilities. BdREN’s proposed Project under the title of “Building e-Learning Infrastructure in South-Asian Countries under TEIN network” (attached as Annex 1 of this Agreement) was approved by TEIN*CC on 31 January 2022. On behalf of TEIN*CC, Mr. Yong Hwan Chung, President of TEIN*CC, and on behalf of BdREN, Mohammad Tawrit, Chief Executive Officer of BdREN have signed the contract.
BdREN has proposed "Building e-Learning Infrastructure in SouthAsian Countries"(BeLISAC) under TEIN network. Under this project, e-Learning hosting infrastructure will be created in 4 countries(Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka). Moreover, two NRENs (CamREN and LERNET) will be receiving 5% of the planned hardware each. Another objective of this project is to get adapted to COVID-29 and future pandemics. One of the highlights of this project is to reduce gender disparity.
The activities are divided into 2 reporting periods. Reporting period 1 from March 2022 to August 2022 and Reporting period 2 from September 2022 to the end of the agreement. BdREN has committed to providing TEIN*CC with all required information on the implementation of the project. BdREN will be providing brief monthly updates. Additional information will be produced within 30 days on request from TEIN*CC. If there is any necessity to procure equipment (e.g. servers, switches, etc.) or service for the implementation of the proposed activities, the rules of procurement as set forth in the PRAG (Procurement and Grants for European Union External Actions) shall be followed.
According to the agreement TEIN*CC will not be taking responsibility for any damage or injury sustained by the staff or property of BdREN or third parties. The scenarios of force majeure are discussed and the conditions for terminations are stated.
